この観音堂は、1954年(昭和29年)12月19日に現在地であるホテル敷地内に移築され、日本庭園の一部として利用されています。
規模は、桁行３間、梁間３間の平屋建てで、屋根は宝形造(ほうぎょうづくり)の桟瓦葺、組物は三手先を使います。

この建物は、奈良県生駒市の長弓寺にあった三重塔の初層と伝えられています。その建設年代は、建築の様式から鎌倉時代末から南北朝時代のものと推定されます。延享年間(1744～8)の頃には、すでに中層、上層は失われていたようです。

1936年(昭和11年)に神奈川県鎌倉市内に移築されました。さらに、1954年(昭和29年)に高輪プリンスホテルとなった現在地へ再移築され、現在に至ります。
2007年(平成19年)に屋根を中心とした修理が行われておりますが、三手先組物、窓、扉などに創建時以来の姿がよく残されています。

なお、堂内須弥壇上には十一面観音半跏像が安置されています。また、仏後壁には普賢図と文殊図が、堂内壁の8面に各坐像の僧形図(８体で真言八祖)が、僧形図の下部には蓮池が描かれていた痕跡が確認できます。


This Kannon-do was moved to its current location on the hotel grounds on December 19, 1954, and is now used as part of the Japanese garden.
It is a one-story building with a girder length of 3 ken and a beam length of 3 ken. The roof is of the hogyo-zukuri style with a pantiled tile roofing, and the braid is of the satemae style.

This building is said to be the first of a three-story pagoda at Chokyuji Temple in Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture. The construction date is estimated to be from the end of the Kamakura period (1185-1333) to the Nanbokucho period (1337-1392), based on the architectural style. By the time of the Enkyo period (1744-8), the middle and upper stories seem to have already been lost.

In 1936, it was moved to Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1954, it was relocated to its current location, which became the Takanawa Prince Hotel.
In 2007, repairs were made to the roof and other parts of the building, but the three main parts, windows, and doors still retain much of the appearance they had when the temple was first built.

A statue of the eleven-faced Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) is enshrined on the altar inside the hall. On the back wall, there are drawings of Fugen and Monju, and on eight sides of the inner wall, there are drawings of seated monks (eight monks for the eight patriarchs of the Shingon sect).
